South Trail Fire & Rescue District
  • The South Trail Fire Protection and Rescue Service District is an independent taxing district established by the state legislature to provide fire protection and rescue services to approximately 62,000 residents of a 39-square mile area in south Fort Myers, Lee County, Florida.

    The District operates four fire stations, 24 hours a day and 365 days a year.  The District never closes and is always operationally ready to respond. Three shifts of 25 firefighters staff four fire engines, a 100 ft. Aerial Platform, one first out utility response pumper, two Advanced Life Support/Non-Transport quick response units, a small rescue boat, a 12-foot Zodiac Emergency Response Boat, and two brush trucks. All of our firefighters are Emergency Medical Technicians; 47 are practicing Paramedics. ALL district fire engines/trucks/pumpers/rescues provide Advanced Life Support level of care for medical emergencies. 

    In 2024, our crews responded to 11,918 incidents - including fires, rescues, medical emergencies, hazardous material events, and vehicle crashes.

    South Trail Fire & Rescue is pleased to announce that the Board of Fire Commissioners has unanimously appointed Fire Chief David Bollen. This decision was based on Chief Bollen’s nearly three decades of fire service experience and more than 22 years in leadership roles as a Captain and Assistant Chief of Operations. His appointment was also recommended and supported by the Union, reflecting strong confidence in his leadership and vision for the District.

    South Trail Fire & Rescue District announces that Fire Station 62, located at 13500 Sophomore Lane off Daniels Parkway, has fully reopened to the public following the successful completion of emergency concrete repairs to the station’s front and rear aprons. The repairs, which required a temporary closure to public access, have been completed as planned and restore full functionality and safety to the facility. Station 62 has remained operational throughout the construction period, ensuring uninterrupted emergency response services to the community. South Trail Fire & Rescue District thanks residents and visitors for their patience and cooperation during the repair process and remains committed to maintaining safe, reliable, and accessible facilities for the community it serves.
