The South Trail Fire & Life Safety Bureau performs activities designed to reduce the risk of fire to life and property, thereby enhancing the safety of residents and visitors to the District. In 2025, the Fire & Life Safety Bureau conducted 5,302 inspections, 1,253 plans reviewed, 59 water flow tests, and 8 fire investigations.

Lee County has enacted a burn ban for unincorporated Lee County and municipalities effective immediately due to increasingly dry conditions throughout Southwest Florida. The county’s ordinance bans “outdoor burning ignition sources,” including campfires, bonfires and trash burning. Grills for food are not included.
